And today, in “Everything is Terrible” news, a man by the name of Craig Evans has been convicted of being a sex offender after accidentally sending a text message to a couple of his adolescent swimming students.
Evans was sending a text message to his girlfriend. It was one of those “Hey, like, we should have sex later,” text messages. Personally, I am against typing anything into any communication system that you wouldn’t want everyone seeing. We’ve all sent stupid text messages, tweets, emails, etc.
And that’s kind of exactly Craig Evans did, only a billion times worse. Rather than sending the message to his girlfriend, he sent it to his entire contact list. That means his mother, his father, and a couple of his teenage swim students. As a result, Evans was pegged as a pedophile and charged with, “causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.” He spent 18 months in jail and was only released when a Judge realized his idiotic his imprisonment was.
After all, if Craig Evans is a pedophile, he’s also an incestuous pervert who most likely wants to make hanky panky with every family member stored in his phone.
There is a catch to this story, however. Evans was freed from jail, but his record has not been cleared. That means that, according to his record, Craig Evans is still a pedobear. The guy’s career as a swim coach is over. His reputation is ruined.
Now, I will admit that this story seems kind of outlandish. I’m not sure how a jury convicted a man of a sexual crime if the details of this story are true. Furthermore, I’m not sure how this guy could get only the “free” part of the “free and clear.” It’s insane! It’s asinine! It’s kinda hard to believe.
So question: Have you ever accidentally sent a text message/tweet/email to the wrong person? Tell me below. Where comments go. Ho ho ho.
