Oz: The Great and Powerful Full Trailer Released – Disney and Sam Rami team up to bring you the prequel to the beloved children’s movie, Wizard of Oz.
The Official Theatrical Tailer for Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful was released and it looks stunning. The combination of talented actors and breath-taking visual effects, the prequel is starting to live up to the legacy of the original Wizard of Oz.
The film stars James Franco who portrays Oscar Diggs, a traveling circus magician who is looking for more out of life. One day, he decides to leave the dusty, grey plains of Kansas for something more fulfilling, but unknown forces have other plans for him. His hot air balloon is swept up into a violent tornado, and he awakes in a whole new world.
Diggs meets many different inhabitants of Oz, such as the muchkins, the flying monkeys, and three of the witches of Oz, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams). A brief synopsis was released with the new trailer:
Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of wizardry, Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
I have mixed feelings about this film … I think the visuals are amazing and I love the actors, but I have a feeling this will be similar to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Johnny Depp’s dance break at the end of the film … that was a huge waste of a $12 movie ticket. Also, I have never been a huge fan of Sam Rami films, but I think I will stay optomistic for this film because I loved the original Wizard of Oz.
