NFL Replacement Referee Call Controversy

The NFL has refused to turnover the controversial call made by a replacement referee during the final moments of last nights game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.

Last night, Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson threw the 24 yard pass to Tate who then reportedly shoved Green Bay Packers Sam Shields out of the way and wrestled for possession with M.D. Shields.

Replays indicated that Jennings had possession of the pass in the end zone, but referees awarded the catch to Tate. One official signaled touchdown and the other indicated an interception.

The touchdown ruling was upheld leading to a back lash of tweets from the players. TJ Lang has even challenged the NFL:

Lang was referring of course to the fact that the current regular referees are on strike due to contract negotiations.

The Lingerie Football League decided to add their two cents to the situation, citing that they had fired  replacement refs for incompetence. They claim that some of the referees they parted with are now officiating for the NFL.

Question time:

Do you think the NFL should hold replacement referees to a higher standard when hiring or risk not having anyone to hire to begin with?
