Okay, we’ve got a Pacific Rim Trailer, Studio Ghibli’s announced their next two films, and some serious lightweight cooling from GE. Quick picking at that, it’s time for Nerd Porn.
Pacific Rim Trailer
Interesting, it turns out that GLaDOS’ voice actress is in there as an AI, and the processing for her voice is almost identical to that of Portal.
Studio Ghibli’s Next Film
Long time animation studio Ghibli has announced their next films. Having been in business since 1985, they’ve made such films as Castle in the Sky and the only anime I’ve probably ever personally watched and enjoyed, Princess Mononoke.
Hayao Miyazaki, the legend among animators and director of Princess Mononoke, will be helming Kaze Tachinu, which “is centered around Jiro Horikoshi, the designer of the World War II fighter plane, the Mitsubishi A6M Zero.” The other will be Kaguya-hime Monogatari, which will be a retelling of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.
GE’s Lightweight Laptop Cooling
Laptop fans suck. We all know it. Engineers hate it as much if not more than we do. Engadget has a story on a new cooling system that GE has been developing.
That’s why they’re coming up with ridiculously lightweight and quiet cooling. They’re a millimeter thick, use a fraction of the power as a normal fan, and, here’s the kicker — no moving parts. Check out the link for more.
