Mixed Martial Arts fighter Ray Elbe suffered one of the most damaging injuries of his career two weeks ago, and it occurred outside of the octagon.
The MMA fighter went to his personal website to talk about his delicate injury, confirming that over the weekend he sustained a penile fracture during intense sexual intercourse with his girlfriend. He details in the video above:
“Keeping it safe during sex isn’t just wearing a condom. As it happened you can imagine the shock and the horror that was going on. Obviously my girlfriend was frantic. We’re in a foreign country that doesn’t speak English.”
Malaysian security and health care teams were called to the couple’s condo, adding insult to injury. Elbe, however, cautions his fans:
“I came forward with (the injury) because I really want people to understand the significance of the emergency. As I Googled this online, a lot of guys actually get to the point where there is no repair because they’re embarrassed and don’t go to the emergency room right away.”
Elbe has a career fighting record of 23 wins and 11 losses since entering MMA in 2002. He is expected to make a full recovery, and will be travelling to the Phillipines to continue training.
