Minaj vs. Carey: The Battle Begins

From the start of the new season of American Idol, co-hosts Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have been at each others throats. This past Tuesday during the Charlotte, North Carolina auditions, Nicki Minaj exploded; swearing out her co-host Mariah Carey over her ruling on a contestants performance.

There has been strife with these two hosts from the beginning. Before the first taping of the show, one of the producers of the show called Mariah, saying that Minaj would be joining her as a judge, and she hung up the phone! During the first taping of American Idol,  Nicki showed up 45 minutes late, setting the tone for the whole day. Throughout the auditions, Carey would constantly critique Minaj’s critiques during the auditions, leading to Minaj talking over Carey more and more as day went on. A few days later, Mariah took Nicki aside to resolve what had happened and they came to an agreement that a dispute between the hosts would not be good for the show.

Apparently, the truce did not hold up, as seen during this clip that TMZ posted of this past weeks auditions. It is not entirely clear what was said before the video, and even most of the dialogue during the clip is hard to understand. The video begins with Minaj swearing out Carey saying, “Get this s**t in self control.  Get in control.  Get in control,” and, “I told them I’m not f**kin’ putting up with her f**king highness over there.  Figure it the f**k out.  Figure it out.” Carey fires back, yelling, “Oh why, WHYYYY .do I have a three year old sitting around me?”

Minaj states that she isn’t going to sit there and let Carey harass her during the show, and Carey says that she can’t see her kids because of the way Nicki acts on stage and during the auditions. I would not want to bet the contestant awkwardly standing off camera, wondering if I made it on the show or not.

The producers chose to end the auditions for the day to give the judges time to cool off, and they are concerned if Minaj and Carey will be able to work together for the remained of the show.

Question:

If you were in Mariah Carey’s position, how would you feel working with an artists like Nicki Minaj?
