Kim DotCom’s ME.GA is Dead … Kinda! – Kim DotCom’s new website is shutdown by the small, African country of Gabon.
Kim DotCom has been boasting for a few weeks about his new website, ME.GA, that would replace MegaUpload but would be completely legal and would be hosted on many different servers. The new site was promised to be completely legal for use and would be better than the previous website, but trajedy stuck earlier this week. The small country of Gabon who has going to be the host for the site, has already shutdown the site before it even launched! All that hype just to have to have it shot down, but not all hope is all lost.
Gabon’s Communications Minister Blaise Louembe released a statement, saying he has given an instruction for www.me.ga to be “suspended” and that Gabon “cannot serve as a platform or screen for committing acts aimed at violating copyrights, nor be used by unscrupulous people”.
However, DotCom tweeted the new domain for the website:
Mega.co.nz is not as snappy as Me.ga, it should protect the website and its users from watchful eyes.
Question: Do you think the name Mega.co.nz is a dealbreaker for the new site?
