The much anticipated Shakespeare adaptation by director Joss Whedon has finally been given a trailer!
The film will be presented on Saturday at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas. The adaptation about two pairs of lovers who have different takes on romance and a way with words has an all star cast with Whedon familiars such as Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, and Reed Diamond.
Whedon’s take on the Shakespearian classic looks like a combination of what we saw with Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet and with the acting talent to actually back it up this time. It was shot independently, and at first as just part of some of the quirky get together’s that Whedon hosts on a regular basis. Fran Kranz who will be playing Claudio has stated:
“At first it was just fun. He likes to do stuff like that. He likes to have people over and do Shakespeare readings. He and his wife are constantly hosting. You go to his house and there are always people there. I would never be comfortable with having a movie shot at my house but he embraces it. So I think it started as one thing and now it’s this movie that people are asking about. I’m like, “I just got an email to come over one day.” Now it’s turned into a thing.”
And what a thing it has become!
Lionsgate/Roadside attractions are planning a wider release for Much Ado About Nothing on June 7th.
