Dane Cook’s TV show Next Caller is being cancelled before even a single episode is being aired.
Apparently, the show was about an egotistical, and misogynistic radio DJ played by Dane Cook (surprise!) who is “forced to share the microphone for a relationship call in show”. I imagine the show’s format is supposed to be something along the lines of Loveline with Dr. Drew. Anyway, the co-host of the show is a “perky feminist” who used to work for NPR. She was played by Collette Wolfe.
NBC has claimed that they are unhappy with the show’s creative direction.
Now, TV show’s get cancelled all the time. What makes this fairly unique is that it was cancelled after it had just barely finished filming the fourth episode in the six episode series. Most TV networks will usually “burn off” the queued-up episodes of cancelled shows, meaning that this show had to be incredibly awful for NBC to not even want to air the four episodes they shot and paid for.
Here’s a sneak peek of the show NBC put out in May:
Nation, were you excited about this show coming out, or do you think it’s just a show about Dane Cook being a douche?
