Japan has finally done it! Scientists at RIKEN Nishina Center believe they have made Element 113, an element missing from the Periodic Table…until now.
This is Japan’s first discovery of an Element, which had to be synthetically created due to the amount of protons. All other elements with the exception of 113 have all been discovered in either America, Russia or Germany. So needless to say, this is a huge deal for Japan and a science nerd such as myself.
It’s taken nine years to finally finish the experiment, and now that element 113 has been discovered, the scientists at RIKEN would love to explore elements 119 and beyond.
Question!
With the largest element being 118, how do you feel about exploring elements beyond that number?
